Integrating Nature: Montana’s New NbS Catalogue for Water Positive Design

We are pleased to introduce our new NbS Catalogue “Integrating Nature-Based Solutions for Water Positive Design” — a collection of knowledge, methodologies and best practices that harness nature as an ally to design more resilient spaces, improve water management and generate benefits for both the environment and people.

Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) provide a practical approach to addressing the challenges posed by urbanization, increasing pressure on resources, and climate change. Rather than being isolated techniques, they are integrated solutions that can be applied at different scales to enhance territorial resilience and rethink water as a valuable resource.

The NbS Catalogue is the result of an ongoing process of research and design application, through a multidisciplinary and integrated approach to the Water Positive theme. It illustrates the conceptual foundations of NbS, water-positive design strategies, and the most field-tested solutions, with real case studies and references to the SDGs and international NbS standards.

A milestone in a broader journey of innovation and experimentation on NbS, reflecting Montana’s values and vision and translating them into concrete solutions capable of generating value and positive transformation.
